STONY BROOK, NY –
Seniors Andrew Schmid and Aidan Watson combined for four extra base hits to lead the Monmouth University baseball team in a 12-5 loss to Stony Brook University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action on Saturday.

The Hawks responded in the top of the second. Monmouth opened the inning with back-to-back base hits. Kenny Noe's sac fly plated Harry Padden with the first run. After the Seawolves got the second out of the inning, Schmid ripped a double to left center that scored Watson and tied the game at 2-2.

Stony Brook scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth and pushed its lead to 6-2. Erik Paulsen had a three-run home run in the frame.

In the top of the sixth, Watson launched a two-run home run to right field which pulled the Hawks to within two, 6-4.

Stony Brook sent 10 men to the plate in the bottom of the sixth and scored six runs. That gave the home team a 12-4 advantage in the game.

In the top of the seventh, Chris Andrews had a single that allowed Chris Walsh to score. That made the score 12-5, but was all the Hawks could get as Stony Brook claimed victory.
