Andrew Schmid and
Aidan Watson combined for four extra base hits to lead the Monmouth University baseball team in a 12-5 loss to Stony Brook University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action on Saturday.Â

Stony Brook took an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first.Â
Â
The Hawks responded in the top of the second. Monmouth opened the inning with back-to-back base hits.

Harry Padden with the first run. After the Seawolves got the second out of the inning, Schmid ripped a double to left center that scored Watson and tied the game at 2-2.Â

Stony Brook scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth and pushed its lead to 6-2. Erik Paulsen had a three-run home run in the frame.Â

In the top of the sixth, Watson launched a two-run home run to right field which pulled the Hawks to within two, 6-4.Â

Stony Brook sent 10 men to the plate in the bottom of the sixth and scored six runs. That gave the home team a 12-4 advantage in the game.Â

In the top of the seventh,
Chris Andrews had a single that allowed
Chris Walsh to score. That made the score 12-5, but was all the Hawks could get as Stony Brook claimed victory.

- Stony Brook leads the all-time series with the Hawks 9-3 after completing the series sweep on Saturday.
-Â The Hawks finished the season with 24 victories which is the most by a Monmouth squad since the 2022 season.
