WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Northeastern University scored three times in the top of the eleventh inning to secure an 8-5 win over the Monmouth University baseball team in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action on Sunday afternoon.

Northeastern got on the board in the top of the second as Alex Lane had an RBI groundout.Â

The Huskies scored three in the third and took a 4-0 lead in the contest.Â

An RBI double from Harrison Feinberg in the top of the fifth pushed the visitors' advantage to 5-0.

The Hawks launched a comeback in the bottom of the fifth. Monmouth sent seven men to the plate and scored three runs.
Brendan Buecker had an RBI single before an error on the Huskies allowed two runs to score.

Monmouth tied things up in the bottom of the seventh.
Andrew Schmid reached on a two-out infield single and came around to score on
Harry Padden's double. Padden scored the game-tying run on
Aidan Bretschneider's infield single.

After a scoreless eighth and ninth innings, the. Hawks and Huskies headed to extras.

Monmouth had a runner reach second in the bottom of the 10th but could not get him home.

Harrison Feinberg's RBI double gave the Huskies the lead in the top of the 11th. Northeastern tacked on two more runs for an 8-5 lead.Â

Monmouth put two runners on in the bottom of the frame but could not convert and Northeastern claimed the win.

- Northeastern leads the all-time series with the Hawks, 10-1 and has won nine straight.Â
- Monmouth was playing extra innings for the third this season and is now 1-2 in extra-inning games.
- The Hawks had a pair of steals in the game, raising their season total to 93. The Hawks need seven more steals to tie the school record for steals in a single-season (100-2009).

Ryan Mealy stretched his scoreless streak to 17.1 innings before surrendering an unearned run in the second.
