Hawks Fall at Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. – The Monmouth University baseball team fell at Fordham University by a 5-2 score on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Rams struck first with three runs in the bottom of the second. Tommy Markey had a two-run single, which helped Fordham gain the advantage. 
 
Chase Hanawalt had an RBI double in the third that pushed the Fordham advantage to 4-0.
 
The Rams added a run in the seventh and held a 5-0 lead in the contest.
 
The Hawks broke through in the top of the eighth. With two outs, Casey Caufield roped a two-run double to right center that scored Kenny Noe and Aidan Bretschneider. 
 
Fordham was able to close out the 5-2 win. 

NOTES 
- It was the eighth meeting all-time between the Hawks and Rams. Fordham leads the all-time series 5-3 and has won back-to-back games in the series.
- Harry Padden had a pair of base knocks for his eighth multi-hit game of the season. 
- Casey Caufield had a double and has now reached base safely in 24 straight games.   

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Jimmy Wigo's four strikeouts were a career-high for the junior. 
- Chris Andrews stole his 12th base of the season. His 12 steals are a career-high and are tied for second on the team this season. 
- Casey Caufield's double was his team-leading ninth of the season. 
- Zack Karson earned the win for Fordham as he allowed three hits in seven innings.
- Joey Ciancimino took the loss for the Hawks after giving up four runs in five innings.
