GREENSBORO, N.C. – Monmouth University's offense erupted for a season-high 12 runs as the Hawks cruised to a 12-0, five-inning shutout over North Carolina A&T on Friday afternoon at the Aggie Softball Complex.

The Hawks (5-15) showcased their most complete performance of the season, pounding out 12 hits while
Olivia Lewis delivered a dominant outing in the circle. The sophomore right-hander tossed a five-hit shutout, striking out four and walking three to earn her second win of the year.

Monmouth wasted no time jumping on the Aggies (5-14), plating four runs in the first inning. Seven of the first eight Monmouth batters reached base, and the Hawks scored runs on a
Gabby Gesualdo bases loaded walk, a
Giana Scotti double, and a
Gianna Stern single.

After adding a run in the second on a Scotti triple, Monmouth continued its offensive surge with two more in the fourth to push the lead to 7-0. The Hawks then put the game out of reach in the fifth, exploding for five more runs. Miller drove one in on a knock to left, and Picone brought home two with a single to right center.
Lexi Castaneda drew a bases loaded walk, and freshman infielder Stern capped off the inning with a run-scoring single up the middle.

Scotti led the offensive charge, going 2-for-2 with four RBIs, including a double, triple, and a sacrifice fly. Picone, Gesualdo, and Stern each drove in multiple runs, while Miller and
Kylee McLain scored twice.
