Monmouth Falls in Series Opener at UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Central Florida (UCF) scored seven runs in the first inning leading to a 17-1 win over the Monmouth University baseball team on Friday night. 
 
Behind a pair of three-run home runs from Lex Boedicker and Dylan King, the Knights took a 7-0 lead after one inning of action. 
 
UCF added single runs in the second and the third innings and extended its lead to 9-0.
 
Monmouth broke onto the scoreboard in the top of the fourth. Chris Andrews ripped out a one-out double to left. Andrews came around to score on Wyatt Hunt's two-out double down the right field line.
 
UCF put six runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth and extended its advantage. Highlighting that frame was a three-run home run from Andrew Williamson.
 
The Knights added two more runs in the seventh and claimed the 17-1 win.

NOTES 
- It was the 25th meeting all-time between the Hawks and Knights but the first since the 2009 season. UCF leads the series 21-4. 
- Harry Padden and Casey Caufield each extended their hit streaks to eight straight games. 

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Casey Caufield had a pair of base hits for the Hawks. He has recorded multiple hits in back-to-back games and six times this season. 
-  Tony Dichiara had a pinch-hit single. He now has two hits and a walk in his three plate appearances this season. 
- Chris Andrews had a double and has now hit in four straight games. 
- Kris Sosnowski earns the win for UCF after going five innings and allowing just one run on six hits. 
- Kevin Opanel took the loss for the Hawks after giving up nine runs in three innings.
