Abdi Bashir Jr. was named to the All-CAA First Team, league officials announced Thursday. Bashir, the conference's leading scorer, is the 23
rd ever First Team All-Conference selection in program history.
Bashir is the CAA leader in scoring at 20.3 points per game, nearly two points higher than the next player. He leads the country in made threes with 121, four shy of the CAA's all-time mark, and already shattered Monmouth's school record for single-season three pointers. He has also set MU single-season marks in field goals attempted and three pointers attempted, and has tied the school record for 30-point games in a season with five. He currently ranks sixth in the NCAA in total points scored with 628, and has 10 more threes than any other player in the country.
Bashir is the fourth ever sophomore in school history to earn First Team honors, joining Alex Blackwell in 1989-90, Justin Robinson in 2014-15 and
Micah Seaborn in 2016-17. He is the second straight Hawk to earn All-CAA First Team, joining
Xander Rice, and the 23
rd player in school history to earn a spot on the First Team.
The sixth-seeded Hawks open the 2025 CAA Tournament Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. against the winner of Fridays #11 Hofstra and #14 North Carolina A&T contest. Monmouth's game will air on FloCollege, and on the radio via the Monmouth Digital Network and Varsity Network App.
