RICHMOND, Va. – After the leading the Monmouth University men's tennis team to a pair of wins, including its Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) opener, graduate student
Adam Hillerby was named the Co-Singles Player of the Week.
Â
Hillerby was honored for the second time this season after teaming with
Jakob Bonnett to be named the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on Feb. 25.
Â
Hillerby's two victories at third singles helped Monmouth pick up road wins over Navy and William & Mary.Â
Â
On Friday at Navy, Hillerby battled for a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win over JJ Etterbeek. Hillerby's win clinched the 5-2 victory for the Hawks. On Sunday at William & Mary, Hillerby once again had the clincher for the Hawks. His 6-2, 6-4 win over Sean Joseph at third singles clinched the win and allowed the Hawks to avenge a loss to William & Mary that ended the Hawks season last year.Â
Â
Hillerby also teamed with Bonnett to give the Hawks a win at third doubles against William & Mary, 7-5.
Â
Hillerby has won three straight singles matches and is 11-3 in singles matches this season.Â
Â
Hillerby and the Hawks get back to work on Saturday, Mar. 15 when they host Siena at 5 p.m. at Little Silver Tennis Club.
