WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth women's basketball opened the 2025-26 season in dominant fashion, cruising to an 81-42 victory over Chestnut Hill on Monday night at the OceanFirst Bank Center.
Junior
Alexis Davis made a statement in her Monmouth debut, recording a double-double with a career-high 20 points and 14 rebounds on 8-of-13 shooting. Davis scored the Hawks' first point of the night with a free throw just 43 seconds into the game, setting the tone for a wire-to-wire win.

Kellyn Preira each added 12 points, with Preira setting a new career high and knocking down a team-best three three-pointers.
Monmouth jumped out to an 18-10 lead after the first quarter, highlighted by a floating jumper from
Alexis Andrews that gave the Hawks their largest lead of the frame. The Hawks took full control in the second quarter, outscoring the Griffins 27-9 to build a commanding 45-19 halftime advantage.
Monmouth carried the momentum into the second half, outscoring Chestnut Hill 36-23 to secure the decisive season-opening victory.

Tessa Carman, and
Kathy Kersaint each contributed six points in their collegiate debuts. Kersaint also dished out four assists, tying Preira for the team lead.
Ella Farrelly anchored the interior with a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Hawks shot an efficient 47.1% from the field (33-for-70) while holding Chestnut Hill to just 27.5% shooting.
