TEANECK, N.J. – The third quarter proved to be the difference in a 63–50 loss to FDU on Saturday afternoon at the Bogota Savings Bank Center.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with the Knights holding a narrow 24–22 lead at the break. Monmouth had a chance to even the score but couldn't convert on the game-tying opportunity.
FDU opened the third quarter on a decisive 14–0 run—the largest by either team all afternoon—and outscored the Hawks 25–6 in the period to extend their lead to 49–21.
The Knights continued to find their rhythm in the fourth quarter, stretching the advantage to 27 points, their largest of the game, with six minutes remaining.
Monmouth, however, refused to fold. The Hawks closed the contest on a 20–6 run to cut the deficit to 13, but the late surge wasn't enough.
Divine Dibula led Monmouth with a season-high 17 points.
