WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Summer Reimet's second-half brace helped the Monmouth University women's soccer team secure a 3-0 win over William & Mary on Thursday night in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play.
The Hawks came out and immediately applied the pressure. Monmouth fired off five shots to William & Mary's one in the first 20 minutes of the match.
Cassie Coster made a pair of nice saves to keep the Tribe off the board.
Monmouth continued to find ways on the offensive end but a couple of solid saves from Jazzy Lorenz and a shot off the crossbar kept the game knotted at 0-0 at the break.
The Hawks broke through for a goal just over 10 minutes into the second half.
Ashley Lavrich sent a ball across the box to
Summer Reimet who was by the right side. Reimet lifted a high shot into the upper corner of the net and a 1-0 lead.
Coster made a pair of big stops following the goal which allowed the Hawks to maintain that 1-0 edge.
Monmouth added to its lead in the 72nd minute.
Liza Suydam settled a high ball played into the center of the box and found Reimet once again on the right-hand corner of the goal. Reimet knocked it home for the 2-0 advantage.
The Hawks tacked on one more goal in the 83rd minute as
Loren Gehret sent a shot across the box and into the far corner.
That closed out a 3-0 win for the Hawks.
