Dahlin's Late Goal Helps Monmouth Secure a Tie at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Gabe Dahlin's goal in the 81st minute highlighted a strong second half effort as the Monmouth University men's soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie on the road at Campbell University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play. 
 
Campbell broke through early in this one as Luc Lavielle scored at 13:40 for the early advantage. 
 
A couple of big stops from Eryk Dymora in the next 10 minutes kept Campbell from extending its advantage. 
 
Jakob Friedman's shot at 31:04 was saved by Samy Slimi.
 
Campbell took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
 
The Hawks applied the pressure early in the second half as Monmouth fired off a pair of shots in the first 10 minutes but was unable to convert.
 
Monmouth got the equalizer in the 64th minute as passes from Jasen Bottini and Jakob Friedman landed a ball at the feet of Erik Reis. Reis converted the game-tying goal for the Hawks. 
 
Campbell went back on top, 2-1 with a goal in the 67th minute of the contest. 
 
Dymora made another big stop for the Hawks before Dahlin's tally at 80:40 tied the game at 2-2. 
 
Both teams fired off a couple of chances in the final eight minutes but were unable to convert as the match ended in a 2-2 tie.

- Monmouth remained unbeaten in 2024 with the tie. It's the first time the Hawks are unbeaten through six matches since 2010. 
- The Hawks move to 2-0-1 all-time against the Camels. 
- Jakob Friedman registered his team-leading fifth assist of the season. Friedman is the first Hawk to have five assists in a season since Ben Zakowski had five in 2021.
- Erik Reis scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season. The five goals are a career-high in a season for the senior. 
- Daniel Navarro made his first career appearance for the Hawks in the second half.
- Eryk Dymora has made at least four saves in five of six matches this season. 

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Campbell held a 13-8 edge in shots for the contest. The Camels put seven shots on goal to Monmouth's four.
- Both teams took two corner kicks in the match. 
- Eryk Dymora made five saves, including three in the second half to secure the tie.
- Samy Slimi had two saves in the tie for Campbell.
