Patrick Osiecki scored his fourth goal of the year as the Monmouth University men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie at LIU on Tuesday afternoon.Â

The Hawks needed just 7:16 to get on the board in the contest.
Carl Valgma and
Filip Ivarsson connected on a cross into the box. Osiecki then fired off a shot into the lower left corner of the net for the lead.Â

The two teams continued to battle on both ends of the field over the remaining 38 plus minutes of the half. Monmouth got off a pair of shots from
Gabe Dahlin and
Chris Morandi but the shots went just wide.

The Hawks carried the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.Â

Monmouth got the second half started with a couple of shots from Osiecki and
Brendan Tansey went just left.Â

Both teams continued to pressure and create chances but neither side was able to convert till the 77th minute when LIU used a goal from Jesper Mikkelsen to tie the match.

Eryk Dymora came up with a big save in the closing minutes as Monmouth and LIU ended the contest in a 1-1 tie.
