VESTAL, N.Y. – Summer Reimet scored on a penalty kick in the second half which helped the Monmouth University women's soccer team secure a 1-1 tie with Binghamton University on Thursday afternoon.

The Hawks applied the pressure early, firing off several shots in the match's opening minutes.

Binghamton broke through on the scoreboard in the 24th minute with an own goal.

Monmouth continued to fire off shots, but Binghamton was able to hold the Hawks off the scoreboard and carried that 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.

The Hawks tallied the equalizer just shy of 10 minutes into the second half. Binghamton was given a yellow card on a foul in the box and Reimet took the penalty kick. She buried it in the lower corner and tied the game at 1-1.

The game ended in a 1-1 hard-fought tie.

NOTES AND QUOTES
"Not the outcome we hoped for tonight as we had plenty of chances to put the game away. All the credit to Binghamton for executing their game plan and battling for 90 minutes. We will learn from this and move forward as we have another opportunity to compete and represent Monmouth on Sunday."
Monmouth Women's Soccer Head Coach Kylee Flynn
