RICHMOND, Va. – After helping the Monmouth University women's soccer team go 1-0-1 last week, sophomore forward
Loren Gehret and freshman forward/midfielder
Ashley Lavrich were honored as the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) announced its weekly award winners.
Â
Gehret was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week after recording six points between the two games. Lavrich took home CAA Rookie of the Week accolades after scoring in the tie with No. 21 Virginia Tech.
Â
Gehret was honored by the CAA for the second time in her career, after being named the rookie of the week last year in September.Â
Â
Gehret started her week with a two goal and one assist performance in the Hawks' 6-0 road win at Albany. She scored a first half goal which helped the Hawks take a 2-0 lead at the break. Gehret added a goal and an assist in the second half of the win. It was her second multi-goal game of her career as she finished with a career-high five points.
Â
On Sunday, Gehret picked up the assist on the Hawks' goal in a 1-1 tie with No. 21 Virginia Tech.Â
Â
Gehret has six points on the season after her performance in the two contests last week.
Â
Lavrich picked the perfect time to strike for her first collegiate goal. The freshman broke free and received a pass from
Loren Gehret to score in the 8th minute of Sunday's contest with No. 21 Virginia Tech. Lavrich's tally gave the Hawks the early lead in the game and helped Monmouth secure a tie with a top 25 team.
Â
Lavrich became the third Hawk to score their first career goal this season (
Emily De Almeida,
Julianna Caccamo).
Â
Gehret, Lavrich and the rest of the Hawks are back in action on Thursday, Aug. 29 when they travel to Binghamton for a 4 p.m. contest.Â
