RICHMOND, Va. – After leading the Monmouth University men's soccer team to a win its season opener, freshman midfielder
Jasen Bottini was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week by league officials.

Bottini was honored for the first time in his career after helping the Hawks secure a 4-0 win over Fairfield on Friday night.Â

Bottini entered the game midway through the first half and a little over a minute later struck for his first career goal which gave Monmouth a 1-0 advantage. The midfielder took a pass from
Gabe Dahlin and deposited it into the goal.

Just over two minutes later, Bottini struck for his second goal of the match. This time he received a pass from
Erik Reis, went on a run and worked his way around the goalkeeper for the score.

Bottini finished with two goals, including the game-winner, on two shots in 33 minutes of work on Friday night.Â

Bottini and the Hawks are back in action when they travel to Temple on Thursday, Aug. 29 for a 7 p.m. match.
