Reimet's Second Half Tally Lifts Hawks Over Temple, 1-0

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Summer Reimet scored with just under 17 minutes to play and helped lift the Monmouth University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Temple University on Thursday night in the season opener. 
 
The Hawks applied the pressure early in the contest but were unable to convert. Tasmin Bynoe made six saves for Temple in the first 45 minutes of the game and kept Monmouth off the scoreboard. 
 
The two teams headed into the break tied at 0-0.
 
The Hawks continued to apply the pressure to start the second half as Bynoe needed to make four saves in the first 10 minutes of the period to keep the game tied at 0-0.
 
Monmouth finally broke free in the 74th minute of the contest. Reimet collected a loose ball in the box and tucked it into the bottom left hand corner of the net for a 1-0 advantage. 
 
Cassie Coster made a solid stop in the 86th minute to keep Temple off the board as Monmouth closed out the 1-0 win.

- Monmouth improved to 2-1 in season openers under Kylee Flynn.  
- The Hawks improved to 2-1-1 all-time against Temple. It was the first meeting between the two sides since 2007.
- Summer Reimet's goal was her first of the season and 10th of her career. 
- The goal was Reimet's fourth game-winning goal of her career. 
- Cassie Coster made four saves to log the 21st shutout of her Monmouth career.  
- Freshmen Ashley Lavrich, Grace Notarfrancesco and Kennedy Erdman made the first appearances of their Monmouth careers in the contest. Lavrich and Notarfrancesco each earned the start. 
- Sophomore Emily De Almeida earned the first start of her career. 

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth held a commanding 24-6 edge in shots in the contest. 
- The Hawks took 11 of the match's 13 corner kicks. 
Cassie Coster finished with four saves in the contest and picked up her first win of the year and 25th of her Monmouth career. Tasmin Bynoe made 14 saves for Temple.
