ALBANY, N.Y. – Four different players scored, and the defense turned in a dominating performance as the Monmouth University women's soccer team defeated the University of Albany 6-0 on Thursday night.
The Hawks applied the pressure early and broke through in the 24th minute as
Emily De Almeida scored her first collegiate goal. De Almeida took the initial shot that was stopped but was able to collect the rebound and fire it home.
Monmouth added to its lead, just before the half.
Clara Ford brought the ball up the sideline closest to the team benches in the 42nd minute and crossed a ball into the box.
Loren Gehret got behind the defense and struck for her first goal of the season and a 2-0 Monmouth lead.
A pair of goals from
Summer Reimet and Gehret's second of the day pushed the lead to 5-0 for the visitors at the 68-minute mark of the second half.
Monmouth capped the scoring at 70:50 as
Chloe Messer flicked a ball into the box and
Julianna Caccamo was able to settle it and score.
The Hawks were locked in the rest of the way and claimed a 6-0 win.

- Monmouth moved to 2-0 to start the year for the second time in three seasons under head coach
Kylee Flynn.
- The Hawks moved to 3-0 all-time against Albany and have shut out the Great Danes in two of the three contests.
- Monmouth's six goals are the most scored in a game since the 2019 squad had six against Fairfield. It's also the most goals scored in a game during the Flynn era.

Loren Gehret's two goal match was her second career multi-goal contest (Hampton-2023).

Summer Reimet tallied the second multi-goal match of her career (FDU-2022) and now leads the Hawks with three goals on the year.

Cassie Coster returned to Albany after appearing in 12 matches for the Great Danes as a freshman (2021).
- Coster currently ranks fifth in career history at Monmouth for career shutouts (22).

Adriana Salzano and
Katie DeGaetano each made their collegiate debuts in the second half.
NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth dominated possession, taking 29 in the contest and not allowing Albany to get off any.
- The Hawks took all nine of the match's corner kicks.

Cassie Coster was not forced to make a save to record her second shutout of the season and 22nd of her career.
- Emily Dorfman made 11 saves in the loss for the Great Danes.
