RICHMOND, Va. – Monmouth University men's soccer goalkeeper
Eryk Dymora and defender
Gabe Dahlin were named Preseason All-Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) as the league announced its preseason award.
Â
In addition, the Hawks were selected second in the Preseason Poll voted on by the league's head coaches.
Â
Dahlin picked up his second preseason accolade after being named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Players to Watch List on defense last week.Â
Â
Dahlin earned USC Second Team All-Region honors for the first time in his career after being a First Team All-CAA selection last fall. He was a key cog in the defensive unit for the Hawks. He started all 18 matches and helped the Hawks hold 16 of 18 opponents to one goal or less, including seven shutouts. Dahlin also tallied the first two goals of his Monmouth career as he scored at Delaware and against Northeastern.Â
Â
Dymora is coming off a standout 2023 season when he earned Third Team USC All-Region honors. He also was named First Team All-CAA accolades. The Hawks ranked in the top 25 nationally for save percentage and goals against average thanks to Dymora's efforts in net.Â
Â
Dymora played all 1660 minutes for the Hawks and had a 0.81 goals against average and a .783 save percentage. He had seven shutouts to his credit and made three or more saves in 11 games. He scored the penalty kick in the CAA semifinals that sent the Hawks through to the CAA Championship match. Â
Â
Entering their third season in the CAA and coming off an appearance in the CAA Championship Match last fall, the Hawks received 82 points and one first place vote to secure the second spot in the poll.
Â
Hofstra, the defending league champion, got 99 points and nine first place votes to take the top spot in the poll. Delaware rounded out the top three after finishing with 79 points and one first place vote.
Â
Monmouth opens its 2024 campaign on Friday, August 23 when it hosts Fairfield at 7 p.m.
