NEW ORLEANS, La. – Five Monmouth University student-athletes were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) during its announcement of the 2024 Academic Awards.
From the men's team,
Chris Bagnell,
Taylor Boorse and
Jan Volkmar were each honored as All-Academic Athletes, while
Veronica Chainov and
Yasmeen Tinsley were recognized on the women's side.
To be recognized, student-athletes must have posted a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing at least two semesters or three quarters at the nominating institution. For the indoor season, the nominee must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship level event. The outdoor season nominees must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, or for the multi-events, must have finished ranked in the top 48 in the East or West Region.
In addition, both the men's and women's teams were recognized as All-Academic Teams for their strong cumulative team GPAs. The women's team registered a 3.49 mark, while the men boasted a 3.32.
Criteria for being honored as an USTFCCCA All-Academic Team included the cumulative GPA of the institution's NCAA
Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field being a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
