Bri Lawson hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Monmouth University Softball Team to a 3-2 victory over the Delaware State Hornets at MU Softball Park on Tuesday.
Trailing 1-0 in the sixth,
Devin Coia drove in the tying run on a two-out RBI single. Monmouth took their first lead of the afternoon when
Kiley O'Rourke scored on a wild pitch to the very next batter.
The Hornets were able to tie the contest with two outs in the top of the seventh on a close play at the plate.
Dani Dabroski singled to lead of the bottom half, and after the next two Hawks were retired, Lawson stepped into the box and laced the first pitch of the at bat into left field to score Dabroski from second.
Billie Kerwood threw her 14
th complete game of the season, picking up her ninth win in the process. The junior right-hander struck out nine batters and allowed seven hits with both runs being earned.

- Kerwood improves to 9-12 on the season.
- It marks the third multi-hit game for Lawson this season.
