Billie Kerwood struck out six as the Monmouth University softball team fell at the University of Delaware by a 2-0 score on Friday evening.Â
The Blue Hens struck first with a run in the bottom of the second. Julia Boyet reached on a single and came around to score when Maddie Fife reached on a Monmouth error.Â

Delaware extended its advantage to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth as Kristen Luzon's single scored Anaya Troy.

Monmouth's best chance came in the fifth as
Tessa Thompson led off with a double but was stranded.

Emily Winburn earned the win for Delaware as she tossed a complete game effort. Winburn limited the Hawks to just two hits while striking out four. Kerwood took the loss for Monmouth after giving up two runs, one of which was earned on eight hits and striking out six.
