Phil Stahl had a home run to give the Monmouth University baseball team an early advantage, but Stony Brook scored the final nine runs in the game to secure a 9-1 victory in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play on Friday.

Stahl put the Hawks on the board in the bottom of the second. After a Stony Brook pitching change, the graduate student drove the first pitch he saw over the fence in center field for the 1-0 advantage.Â

Stony Brook took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth on a sac fly from Cam Santerre and an RBI double from Matty Wright.Â

The Seawolves extended their lead to 6-1 in the top of the seventh. Stony Brook scored four runs on five hits, including a home run from Evan Fox.

Stony Brook tacked on three runs in the top of the ninth, which made the final score 9-1.
