Padden and Denlinger Power Monmouth Past Stony Brook

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Harry Padden and Austin Denlinger combined for eight RBIs and five runs scored as the Monmouth University baseball team broke out the bats in an 11-7 win over Stony Brook University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play on Saturday. 
 
The Hawks wasted little time getting on the board as they plated three runs in the bottom of the first. Denlinger had an RBI double while Phil Stahl added an RBI single to highlight the action. 
 
After Stony Brook got a run back in the top of the third, Padden and Denlinger led off the bottom of the third with back-to-back home runs. The pushed the Monmouth advantage to 5-1.
 
The home team wasn't done yet as the Hawks loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the fourth. James Harmstead reached on a fielders choice to plate a run before Padden added a sac fly as Monmouth led 7-1.
 
Denlinger kept swinging a hot bat as he drove a triple to right center that scored two runs and later crossed the plate on Stahl's sac fly in the sixth. That put Monmouth ahead 10-1 in the contest.
 
Stony Brook scored six runs over the final three innings but Padden reached on a fielders choice that scored Casey Caufield and made the final score 11-7.
