Phil Stahl matched his career-high with four base hits to lead the Monmouth University baseball team in a 9-7 loss to Elon University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action on Sunday morning.

The Hawks staked themselves to an early 4-0 advantage in this one with two runs in the top of the first and two more in the top of the second.
Chris Andrews had an RBI single in the first while
Casey Caufield had a bases loaded walk in the second to highlight the action.

Elon used a pair of three-run home runs in the bottom of the second to take a 6-4 advantage in the game.Â

The Phoenix scored three times in the bottom of the fourth and extended its advantage to 9-4.Â

The Hawks battled back and struck for three runs in the top of the fifth.
Phil Stahl had an RBI single before
Wyatt Hunt roped an RBI double. Hunt later scored on a fielders choice to make it a 9-7 game.Â

That was as close as the Hawks could get as Elon claimed the 9-7 win.
