CHARLESTON, S.C. – Kevin Madden hit a pair of home runs to lead the College of Charleston to a 9-1 win over the Monmouth University baseball team in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play on Friday afternoon.Â

The Cougars grabbed the early advantage with a pair of runs in the top of the first.Â

Madden extended the home team's advantage to 4-0 with the first of his two home runs in the fourth.Â
Â
College of Charleston scored three more runs in the sixth and led 7-0 in the contest.Â

The Hawks broke through on the scoreboard in the seventh.
Joey Ventresca drove a single back up the middle with two outs and
Phil Stahl scored on the play.Â

The Cougars added two more runs in the eighth, which made the final score 9-1.Â

Harry Padden reached base in all four of his plate appearances for Monmouth. Padden was 3-for-3 with a walk.
