BALTIMORE, Md. – The Monmouth University baseball team fell in a pair of hard-fought one run contests at George Mason University on Friday afternoon.

The Patriots scored with one-out in the 10th inning of game-one to secure the 6-5 victory. The Hawks and Patriots looked to be heading for extras in game two as well, but George Mason was able to plate a two-out run in the bottom of the ninth for the 2-1 win.

Game One Recap: The Hawks got on the board in the first as James Harmstead drilled a two-out double down the left field line that scored Austin Denlinger.

George Mason scored two in the first and one in the second to take a 3-1 advantage.

Monmouth got one back in the third and made it a 3-2 game on Denlinger's RBI groundout.

The Patriots extended their advantage to 5-2 with runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Down to their final at-bats, the Hawks opened the top of the ninth with a single and a hit by pitch to put two runners on. Harmstead homered to left and tied the game at 5-5.

It stayed that way until the bottom of the 10th when George Mason got an RBI triple to plate the winning run.

Game Two Recap: The Hawks struck first in game two as well. Dylan Perry reached to start the third inning and came around to score on Eric Sabato's single up the middle.

George Mason tied the game with a run in the fourth.

It looked like the two sides might be headed to extras again as neither team could score over the next four plus innings.

In the bottom of the ninth, George Mason used a two-out single to center to score the game winning run.
