Monmouth Falls at Northeastern on Saturday

BOSTON, Mass. – Alex Lane had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs to lead Northeastern University to a 7-1 win over the Monmouth University baseball team on Saturday afternoon in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play.
 
The Hawks continued a trend of scoring first as they struck for a run in the first inning. James Harmstead dropped an infield single to third base with one out and Casey Caufield scored on the play. 
 
Lane helped the Huskies respond with three runs in the bottom of the first as he had an RBI and a run scored. 
 
Northeastern added one run in the second, one in the fourth and two in the sixth for the the 7-1 final score. 

NOTES 
- Northeastern moved to 6-1 all-time against the Hawks. 
- It was the second straight game and sixth time this season the Hawks have scored at least one run in the top of the first.   
- Casey Caufield has hit in three straight games for the Hawks. 
- Harry Padden has hit in three straight games and 14 of 16 games this season.
- James Harmstead now has four RBIs in two games against Northeastern. 

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Northeastern outhit the Hawks, 9-3 in the contest. 
- Eric Sabato is now tied for the team lead with three sac bunts on the season.  
- Aiven Cabral earned the win for Northeastern as he went six innings and surrendered just one run on three hits. 
- Alec Couture took the loss for Monmouth as he tossed 5.1 innings and was charged with seven runs on seven hits.
- Jake Fraher pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the Hawks with a strikeout.
