Monmouth Falls to Northeastern in Series Opener

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Northeastern University claimed a 14-3 win over the Monmouth University baseball team in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play on Friday afternoon. It was the series opener between the two squads. 
 
The Hawks struck first in this one as James Harmstead drove a one-out single through the left side of the infield. That plated Casey Caufield and Harry Padden for the 2-0 advantage. 
 
After Northeastern tied the game in the bottom of the second, the Hawks responded with a run in the top of the third. Once again, it was Harmstead coming through with one-out single that scored Padden. 
 
Northeastern scored the final 12 runs of the game to claim the victory. Gregory Bozzo had a home run and a double for the Huskies while Alex Lane added a home run, a single and a sac fly to highlight the action.

NOTES 
- Northeastern moved to 5-1 all-time against the Hawks. 
- Harry Padden had a pair of hits and now has four multi-hit games this year.   
- Padden plated a pair of runs and has five games with multiple runs scored. 
- Phil Stahl has recorded a hit in four straight contests for the Hawks.
- Wyatt Hunt stretched his hit streak to six straight games. 
- James Harmstead had three RBIs in the game. It was his fifth game this season with multiple RBIs.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Northeastern outhit the Hawks, 19-9 in the contest. 
- Phil Stahl's double was his fifth of the year. He ranks third on the team for doubles this season.  
- Jake Gigliotti earned the win for Northeastern as he went six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. 
- Drew Helmstetter suffered the loss for the Hawks as he threw four innings and gave up eight runs.
- Josh Halcisak pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the Hawks with a strikeout.
