Monmouth (12-18, 5-3 CAA) – 3

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University Softball Team fell to Hofstra, 5-3, in the series finale Sunday afternoon at MU Softball Park.

After allowing a run in the first, Monmouth starting pitcher Billie Kerwood held the Pride off the scoreboard in each of the next three innings. The Hawks took the lead with two runs in the third – one off a Mackenzie Bloss (3-for-4) single to left and another on a Bri Lawson groundout – and scored again on Abby Warner's fourth home run of the season.

Hofstra responded with a three-run fifth inning to reclaim the lead, 4-3, and added run No. 5 on an insurance single in the seventh. The Hawks would bring the tying run to the plate in the bottom half of the frame, but the Pride were able to hold on for the victory.

Monmouth wins its second CAA series of 2024 as they currently sit tied for fourth place with a 5-3 conference record. The Hawks close out the eight-game homestand with a 6-2 overall record going 4-2 in conference play.

QUOTE
"Tough game today. That one really could have gone either way. You have to give credit to Hofstra for showing up and playing hard.

I am proud of our kids. We took the series. They continue to get better each and every day which is all we are asking of them. We are excited to go on the road to play Columbia and then head to Campbell at the end of the week." – Head Coach Shannon Salsburg
