NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Columbia Lions walked off the Monmouth University Softball Team in the seventh inning to secure a 4-3 victory in New York City on Wednesday.
Monmouth jumped out to an early lead after
Tessa Thompson doubled and
Devin Coia singled her in with two outs in the second inning. Columbia responded with a three-run third backed by a solo homer and two-run shot.
The Hawks fought back to tie the game in the sixth when
Lexi Castaneda hit a RBI single to right, and leadoff hitter
Dani Dabroski drew her second walk of the day with the bases loaded. The Lions were able to leave the bases loaded, and later hit a walk-off single with two outs in the seventh to win their seventh game of 2024.
