MERION STATION, Pa. – Saint Joseph's scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 4-4 tie and defeated the Monmouth University baseball team 10-6 on Saturday afternoon.

Saint Joseph's jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as each of the first three batters in the bottom of the first reached base.Â

Monmouth got on the board in the top of the second thanks to a
Matt Scrivanic two-out RBI double.

Monmouth tied the game up in the top of the third as
Eric Sabato launched his first home run of the year to left field.Â

Saint Joseph's went back on top, 4-2 with runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings.Â

Monmouth pulled to within one on a
James Harmstead home run in the top of the fifth. The visitors pulled even in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from
Chris Walsh.Â

Saint Joseph's put five on the board in the bottom of the sixth and took a 9-4 advantage. The big hit in the inning came from Owen Petrich, who had a three run home run.Â

Monmouth got one run back in the top of the seventh as
Phil Stahl had an RBI single. However, Saint Joseph's made it a 10-5 game with a run in the bottom of that frame.Â

Stahl plated another run with an RBI single in the top of the ninth but that was all Monmouth could push across as Saint Joseph's claimed the 10-6 win.
