Dylan Perry and
Harry Padden each had a home run and two RBIs to lead the Monmouth University baseball team in a 9-7 loss at Mercer on Saturday afternoon.Â

The Hawks got on the scoreboard first as
Mason Wolf delivered a two out two run single up the middle.Â
Â
Mercer responded with two runs in the bottom of the second and four in the bottom of the third to take a 6-2 lead in the game.Â

Monmouth got one back in the top of the fifth on a
James Harmstead RBI single.Â
Â
Mercer used a two-run home run to extend its lead to 8-3 in the seventh.
Â
Padden and Perry got the top of the eighth started with back-to-back home runs. That made it an 8-5 game.Â
Â
Mercer got one more run in the bottom of the eighth and made it an 9-5 game.Â

Padden and Perry combined to help the Hawks plate two more runs in the top of the ninth. Padden had an RBI double and came around to score on Perry's sac fly. That was all the Hawks could muster as Mercer claimed the 9-7 win.Â

Harry Padden's home run was his second of the season and seventh of his career. He leads the Hawks with six extra base hits this season.
