WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The No. 1 Monmouth University women's soccer team jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held off a late surge from No. 4 Hofstra University for a 4-2 win in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Semifinals on Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks won their third straight match and will host the CAA Championship match on Saturday, Nov. 9.
After a putting a shot off the crossbar in the sixth minute of the contest,
Summer Reimet gave the Hawks the early lead with a goal at 10:35. Reimet took a pass from
Liza Suydam and rocketed a low shot into the net for the 1-0 advantage.
The two teams settled in after the goal and continued to pressure on each opportunity they had.
Reimet added to the Hawks lead with her second of the day at 43:43. Hofstra attempted to clear the ball, and it landed at the feet of
Grace Notarfrancesco. She played a ball to Reimet in the top left-hand corner of the box. Reimet turned and fired a shot into the upper right-hand corner for the 2-0 lead.
Monmouth carried that 2-0 advantage into the halftime break.
The Hawks added to their lead just about 16 minutes into the second half. Suydam sent a ball into the box along the far side.
Loren Gehret turned and shot a low ball into the corner for the 3-0 lead.
Hofstra got on the scoreboard with a goal from Louise Hayden at 66:39. Both goalies made some solid saves before the Pride made it a 3-2 game with a Millie Davies goal at 81:01.
The Monmouth defense locked down and withstood the pressure from the Pride.
Monmouth added a late goal as Suydam scored off a nice pass from
Ashley Lavrich at 89:24. That closed out a 4-2 win for the Hawks.

- Monmouth and Hofstra were meeting for the third straight year in the CAA Tournament and the second straight season in the CAA Semifinals. The Hawks are 2-0-1 when facing the Pride in the CAA playoffs.
- The Hawks advance to the CAA Championship match for the second straight year. Monmouth will be looking for its first conference championship since 2021 season when the Hawks were part of the MAAC.
- Monmouth picked up its third straight win against the Pride. Hofstra leads the all-time series, 4-3-3.

Summer Reimet recorded her third brace of the season (Albany, William & Mary, Hofstra).
- Reimet's two goals gave her 13 for the season. It is the most goals scored in a season by a Hawk since Erica Murphy scored 16 during the 2015 season.
- Reimet's two goals pushed her points total for the season to 31. She is the first Hawk since Madie Gibson in 2016 to record 30 or more points in single-season.

Ashley Lavrich posted her team-leading eighth assist of the season. That ranks 21st in single-season history at Monmouth. Her eight helpers are the most in a single-season since Jesi Rossman had nine in 2021.

Loren Gehret's goal was her second game-winner of the season.

Liza Suydam finished with a goal and two assists. She and Reimet have each scored in three straight matches for the Hawks.
- Suydam now has 22 points on the season. She and Reimet (31 points) are the first two Hawks with 20 or more points in a single-season since Madie Gibson and Lexie Palladino in 2019.

Cassie Coster's win in goal was her 12th of the season and 36th of her career in her 56th career game for the Hawks.
