WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Summer Reimet scored her third goal of the playoffs but a second half comeback came up just short as the No. 1 Monmouth University women's soccer team fell to No. 2 Stony Brook 2-1 in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championship Match Saturday night.
The Hawks applied the pressure from the start in this one and looked like they had an early lead, but the goal was waved off in the seventh minute on an offsides call.
Cassie Coster made an early save to keep the Seawolves off the board. The Hawks continued to fire off shots, including one by
Ashley Lavrich that hit just off the crossbar.
Stony Brook was able to break through at 31:41 as Luciana Setteducate headed one into the bottom left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.
The Hawks kept firing off shots but four saves from Nicolette Pasquarella sent Stony Brook into the half leading 1-0.
The Hawks and Seawolves battled to start the second half.
Stony Brook was able to add to its lead at 54:03 as Linn Beck scored off a pass from Setteducate.
Monmouth didn't back down despite trailing 2-0 as the Hawks fired off five shots in the next 10 minutes of the contest.
The Hawks got on the board at 78:35 as
Grace Notarfrancesco played one forward into the box and to the feet of Reimet. The junior moved around her defender and fired a shot across the net into the right corner and made it a 2-1 match.
Monmouth got off three more shots in the contest but could not come up with the equalizer as Stony Brook claimed the championship with a 2-1 win.

Summer Reimet's goal was her 14th of the season. She finishes the year tied for 11th for goals scored in single-season history at Monmouth.
- Reimet finished the year with 33 points, which is tied for 13th in single-season history at Monmouth. It is also the most points by a Hawk in a single-season since Erica Murphy had 35 in 2015.

Cassie Coster finished with two saves, which gave her 73 for the season. It is the most saves for Coster during her three year Monmouth career.
- The three losses this season are tied for the third fewest in program history for a season (1994, 1995, 2015, 2024).
