West Long Branch, NJ – Monmouth University Men's Basketball's
Abdi Bashir Jr. was named Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Week Monday after averaging 31.5 points per game and setting the program's single-game three-point field goals record.
Â
Bashir broke a record that had stood for 34-years at Rutgers Friday, becoming the first Hawk to ever make 10 three pointers in a single game. His 38 points was a career-high and the second most for a Hawk under Head Coach
King Rice, with his 10 threes marking the second most in the history of Jersey Mike's Arena.
Â
Earlier in the week, Bashir set a previous career high with 25 points at Northern Illinois, hitting two threes. He finished the week a perfect 11-11 from the foul line, shooting 45.5% from the field and 48% from downtown.
Â
Bashir and the Hawks are back at it tonight at Wichita State, with tip set for 7:30 p.m. Eastern on ESPN+ and the Monmouth Digital Network on the radio.
