PHILADELPHIA – The Delaware Blue Hens will represent the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) as this year's automatic qualifier in the NCAA Tournament after defeating the Monmouth University Field Hockey Team, 4-3 in overtime, in Sunday's conference title game.

Monmouth set the tone early, with Anna Moors scoring her CAA-leading 12th goal of the season just 1:07 into the game off an assist from Calista Schwartz, putting the Hawks up 1-0. Schwartz's helper was her 13th on the year, a mark that also leads the conference. Delaware responded midway through the second period with a goal, however, Monmouth reclaimed the lead just minutes later when Jess Tucker fired one into the net out of mid-air, sending the Hawks into halftime with a 2-1 advantage.

The third period saw Delaware come out aggressively, equalizing at 2-2 with an early goal. Monmouth was quick to counterattack, as Sofia Fouces found the back of the net at 37:42, assisted by India Shakespeare, giving the Hawks their third lead of the game at 3-2. Delaware's Valentina Martorell, however, tied the game again in the final minute of the third.

After a scoreless fourth, the two teams exchanged chances in the overtime period. Goalkeeper Jessie Eiselin anchored Monmouth's defense, recording five saves, including key stops in overtime to keep the Hawks in contention. However, Delaware managed to break through in the final minutes of overtime, as Lulu Fulton scored the game-winner at 68:18, assisted by Sarah Rigual, sealing the 4-3 victory and championship for the Blue Hens.
