WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. –Â
Summer Reimet's ninth goal of the season proved to be the difference maker as the Monmouth University women's soccer team battled for a 1-0 win over the University of Delaware in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play on Sunday afternoon.Â
Â
The Hawks picked up their third CAA win of the season while handing Delaware its first conference loss of the year.
Â
Both teams had their chances in the first 20 minutes of this contest.
Cassie Coster came up with a stop and the Hawks' backline cleared another ball out of the box to keep Delaware off the board. Reimet had a shot sail just high for the Hawks.
Â
Kyla Burns got a hand on
Chloe Ferreira's shot just before the break as the Hawks and Blue Hens went into the half tied at 0-0.
Â
The second half looked much like the first as both teams had their opportunities, but neither was able to capitalize until the 87:40 mark.
Lauren Bruno played a well placed ball to the top left hand side of the box. Reimet settled the pass and fired one home for the goal and a 1-0 lead.Â
Â
Monmouth got one more shot off as the Hawks continued to pressure while closing out the victory.Â
