STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Ashley Lavrich had a goal and an assist in the second half which helped the Monmouth University women's soccer team secure a 2-2 road tie with Stony Brook University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play.

The first half was a back-and-forth battle as both teams had their chances to get on the scoreboard. Cassie Coster and Nicolette Pasquarella were each forced to make a save in the first 10 minutes of the match.

The Hawks and Seawolves continued to get chances but neither side was able to convert.

Chloe Messer had a couple of chances in the final minute of the period, but Pasquarella was able to turn them away. The Hawks and Seawolves went into the break tied at 0-0.

Stony Brook got on the board early in the second half with a Luciana Setteducate goal at 47:56.

Both teams continued to press and take their chances when they had them.

The Seawolves added to their lead in the 76th minute as Reilly Rich converted a penalty kick chance for a 2-0 edge.

Monmouth did not let up on the pressure and got one back at 79:25. Chloe Ferreira fought to control a ball in traffic and scored her first of the season on a low shot into the right-hand corner.

The Hawks fired off three shots in a four-minute span looking for the equalizer.

Monmouth tied things up at 86:56 as Summer Reimet sent one across the box to the feet of Lavrich. She punched it home and tied the game at 2-2.

Neither team got off a shot in the final three plus minutes of the match and it ended in a 2-2 tie.

NOTES AND QUOTES

We could not have asked for anything more from them. Our girls deserved better tonight, yet we still came away with a point on the road against a good Stony Brook team."
          – Monmouth Women's Soccer Head Coach Kylee Flynn
