RICHMOND, Va. – After scoring three goals in two wins, Monmouth University women's soccer sophomore midfielder
Liza Suydam was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week by league officials.
Â
Suydam was honored for the second time this season after helping the Hawks secure the CAA Regular Season Title and the number one seed for the upcoming tournament.Â
Â
She becomes the third Hawk to be honored multiple times by the CAA this season (
Ashley Lavrich – three times,
Lauren Bruno – two times, Suydam – two times). It is the 10th time this season a Hawk has been honored by the CAA.
Â
Suydam started her week with a brace in the Hawks' 3-2 road win at Hofstra. She tallied the match's first goal just 7:54 in to give the Hawks an early advantage. Suydam later struck for the game-winner in the 64th minute.Â
Â
It was the third time this season Suydam has recorded a brace in a game. It was also Suydam's second game-winning goal of the season.Â
Â
On Sunday, Suydam scored an insurance goal in the 2-0 win over Hampton. That helped the Hawks secure a share of the CAA Regular Season Title.
Â
Suydam has a career-high eight goals and two assists for 18 points this season.
Â
Suydam and the Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, Nov. 3 when they host the winner of No. 4 Hofstra/No. 5 Delaware in the CAA Semifinals at 1 p.m.
