BALANCED ATTACK LEADS MONMOUTH TO WIN AT DREXEL

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Three players scored in double figures to lead a balanced scoring attack as the Monmouth University women's basketball team used a strong second half to defeat Drexel University, 63-55 in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action.
 
The Hawks ran out to a 6-0 lead in the first, but Drexel answered with a 18-4 run of its own and led 18-10 with 2:46 to go in the period. Chloe Hodges had seven points in that scoring spurt for the Dragons. The two teams traded points over the final two and a half minutes as Drexel took a 24-16 lead after one. 
 
Monmouth opened the second quarter on an 8-3 run and cut the Drexel lead to 27-24 with 5:36 left in the period. Drexel pushed its advantage to six, 31-25 with 1:48 left in the stanza. Monmouth scored the final six points of the period, including a lay-up from Jania Hall with four seconds left. The Hawks and the Dragons went into the break tied at 31-31.
 
Monmouth opened the third quarter on a 9-2 run and took a 40-33 lead with 6:57 left in the period. Kaci Donovan had four points in that stretch. Drexel scored the next eight points in the contest and took a 41-40 lead 4:48 showing on the clock. Monmouth tallied five of the final seven points in the period and took a 45-43 lead after three. 
 
Drexel scored the first bucket of the fourth quarter and took a 46-45 edge. Monmouth responded with a 13-3 run and took a 58-49 lead with 3:16 to go in the game. Ella Farrelly had six points in that scoring spurt. The two teams traded points over the final three minutes as a pair of free throws from Sandrine Clesca closed out a 63-55 win.

- Monmouth picked up its third straight win over Drexel.
- The win was the Hawks' fifth straight on the road (Dec. 2-pres.). It matched the 2021-22 team for the longest road win streak under head coach Ginny Boggess.
- The victory over Drexel gave Monmouth it's 10th win of the season. It matches the 2021-22 team for the quickest to 10 victories (16 games). 
- Ariana Vanderhoop led the Hawks with 12 points in the game. It was her third straight game in double figures and ninth time this season. 
- Ella Farrelly finished with a career-high 10 points in the contest. 
- Jania Hall contributed 10 points and reached double figures for the eighth time this season. 
- Belle Kranbuhl had a game-high seven rebounds for the Hawks.  

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth shot 50% from the field in the contest (23-for-46) and matched its season-high for field goal percentage. The Hawks are 7-1 this season when shooting 40% or better from the field. 
- The Hawks took advantage of its trips to the foul line as Monmouth shot 13-for-20. Sandrine Clesca and Ella Farrelly each hit three shots from the line. It was the ninth time this season the Hawks have made 10 or more shots from the foul line. 
- The Hawks won the rebounding battle, 35-26. 
- MU scored 22 points off 16 Drexel turnovers.
