HALL HELPS MONMOUTH EXTEND ROAD WIN STREAK AT HAMPTON

HAMPTON, Va. – Jania Hall scored all 15 of her points in the second half to lead the Monmouth University women's basketball team to a 69-61 comeback win at Hampton University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play Friday night. 
 
Leading 8-7 early in the first, the Hawks used an 8-0 run to extend their advantage to 16-7 with 5:27 showing on the clock. Belle Kranbuhl and Ella Farrelly each had four points in that stretch. A Rosalie Mercille triple at 3:31 extended the Hawks' advantage to 21-11. The two teams traded points as Monmouth eventually took a 24-15 lead after one.
 
Trailing 30-25 in the second period, Hampton used a 7-0 run to take a 32-30 lead with 3:34 left until the break. Monmouth got a basket from Mercille to tie the game at 32-32 before a free throw in the final minute of play sent Hampton into the lead with a 33-32 lead. 
 
The Hawks and Pirates traded points to start the third quarter. Seven straight points from Camryn Hill gave Hampton a 42-37 advantage with 4:10 remaining in the period. Hall scored seven of the final 11 points in the period and pulled the Hawks to within two, 46-44 at the end of the third. 
 
Hall scored six of the first 12 points in the fourth quarter as Monmouth led 52-50 with 8:06 left in the game. With the game tied at 54-54, Monmouth used a 6-0 run to take a lead it would not relinquish, 60-54. The Hawks were 7-for-9 from the foul line in the final two minutes of the game, including a 5-for-6 showing from Sandrine Clesca, to close out the 69-61 win.

- Monmouth moved to 2-0 all-time against Hampton.
- The win was the Hawks' sixth straight on the road (Dec. 2-pres.). It is the longest road win streak under head coach Ginny Boggess and matches the 1986-87 and 2003-04 for the second longest road win streak in program history (school record is eight-2002-03).
- Belle Kranbuhl recorded four blocks on the night, including the 200th of her career. She is the fourth player in program history and first since Suzanne Johnson (1988-91) to reach the mark.  
- Jania Hall finished with a team-high 15 points in the contest. She has scored in double figures in back-to-back games and nine times this season. 
- Kaci Donovan contributed 14 points and reached double figures for the 12th time this season. 
- Sandrine Clesca made 8-of-10 chances from the foul line and posted 10 points in the game. She has reached double figures in three games. 
- Ariana Vanderhoop led the Hawks with a season-high 12 rebounds.  

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth shot 38.6% from the field and was aided by a 7-for-12 (58.3%) performance in the fourth quarter. 
- The Hawks held Hampton to a 33.9% field goal percentage for the game. 
- Both teams spent significant time at the foul line in the contest. Monmouth shot 78.3% (18-for-23) from the charity stripe while Hampton was 21-for-25 (84%) from the foul line.
- The Hawks dominated the rebounding battle, 45-29. MU moves to 7-1 on the year when it pulls down 40 or more rebounds in a contest. 
- Monmouth finished with five blocks in the game. It was the 12th time this season the Hawks have recorded five or more blocks in a game. 
- Monmouth finished with six second chance points to Hampton's two. 
- The Hawks got another strong performance from their bench as the reserves accounted for 29 points.
