Xander Rice was named Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday.
Rice scored 29.7 points per game this week, knocking in five threes in each game and scoring a career-high 34 points on a career-best 12 made field goals at Charleston. Against Northeastern, Rice finished with 29 points in just 24 minutes, making his final 11 field goals to finish 11-for-12 from the field and a perfect five-of-five from deep, tying a single-game program record. The graduate guard added 26 points at UNC Wilmington, shooting 60% for the week from the floor and from three.
Rice earns his second weekly honor of the season (November 13) and the third by a Hawk this year (
Abdi Bashir Jr., Rookie of the Week – November 27). MU is back in action Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at Drexel. The game will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network and on the radio via the Monmouth Digital Network.
