NEWARK, Del. – The Monmouth University men's soccer team scored four times in the second half to secure a 4-0 road win at the University of Delaware in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play Friday night.
Both teams had their chances in the first 45 minutes, but neither was able to capitalize. Delaware held a 3-2 edge in shots in the first period.
The two teams traded shots to start the second half before the Hawks were able to get on the board.
Ben Zakowski scored his team-leading seventh goal of the year off an assist from
Olle Brorsson at 56:52.
The Hawks added on to their lead just under four minutes later as
Arturo McConnochie punched one in.
Monmouth extended its advantage to 3-0 at 64:12 as
Bastian Hatcher scored his first of the season off a solid left foot shot.
The Hawks capped the scoring in the 75th minute as
Gabe Dahlin scored off a pass from
Erik Reis. It was Dahlin's first goal as a Hawk.
Monmouth held Delaware to just two shots down the stretch and secured the victory.
