ZAKOWSKI SCORES AS HAWKS FALL TO PRINCETON

FINAL SCORE
Princeton 4 (3-3-0)
Monmouth 1 (4-2-3)

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Ben Zakowski scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season but it was not enough as the Monmouth University men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 4-1 decision to Princeton University on Tuesday night.

Princeton took an early lead in this one, breaking through on a Walker Gillespie goal in the 28th minute. The Tigers would add a tally from Will Francis at 36:36 and carried that 2-0 advantage into the break.

The Hawks got on the board at 54:11. Erik Reis chipped a ball into the box that found Zakowski at the post closest to the Monmouth bench. The forward rocketed a shot into the upper corner and made it a 2-1 game.

Monmouth continued to apply the pressure but was unable to find the back of the net again. Princeton added on two more goals in the final 10 minutes of the contest for the 4-1 victory.
