JONES' GOAL LIFTS HAWKS OVER DELAWARE, 1-0

FINAL SCORE
Monmouth 1 (3-3-1, 2-0-1 CAA)
Delaware 0 (3-4-4, 0-2-3 CAA)

NEWARK, Del. – Allie Jones' goal in the seventh minute proved to be the difference maker as the Monmouth University women's soccer team secured a 1-0 victory over the University of Delaware in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play Thursday night.

Delaware got the first shot of the match off, but the Hawks responded in a big way as Maddison Perna sent a ball into the box from near midfield and Loren Gehret quickly settled it and tapped it over to Jones for the score.

Both teams continued to push their chances but neither was able to convert as Monmouth carried that 1-0 lead into the half.

The Hawks forced the Delaware keeper to make three second half saves as Cassie Coster was not challenged en route to the 1-0 win.
