COSTER LEADS HAWKS TO 0-0 TIE AT WILLIAM & MARY

FINAL SCORE
Monmouth 0 (1-3-1, 0-0-1 CAA)
William & Mary 0 (5-0-4, 2-0-1 CAA)

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Back on the pitch for the first time in 11 days, the Monmouth University women's soccer team battled William & Mary to a 0-0 tie in its Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) opener.

Junior Cassie Coster made a season-high eight saves to lead the Hawks on the evening.

William & Mary applied the early pressure, firing off three shots in the first 10 and a half minutes but Coster stopped one and the other two went wide.

Maddison Perna had a shot on goal at 28:18 but the Tribe's Zoe Doughty was able to turn it away. The two sides went into the half tied at 0-0.

The story of the second half for the Hawks was the play of Coster in goal. The junior racked up seven saves, including two saves in 11 seconds as the Tribe applied a late rush to try and get a goal.

Coster held strong and the Hawks and Tribe settled for a 0-0 draw.

NOTES AND QUOTES
"What a battle from start to finish tonight. William & Mary is a very good team and we knew we had to compete for a full 90 minutes. Going into that type of a game without having played in nearly two weeks was not an easy task so we will take the point on the road.

Credit to our entire team for raising the level of training in the last 11 days to prepare us for our strong conference schedule and tough battles like tonight. Shout out to our goalkeeper, Cassie as she came up big in the second half and made some world class saves to keep us in the game! We are looking forward to one more game on Sunday before heading back to West Long Branch."
 – Monmouth Women's Soccer Head Coach Kylee Flynn
