WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Baseball was beaten by Hofstra University Sunday in the final game of a three-game CAA series, 19-2 at MU Baseball Field.
Austin Denlinger led the Hawks with three hits on the afternoon.
Hofstra jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first and extended it to 4-0 in the third before the Hawks answered in the fourth.
Phil Stahl led off with a double and
Ben Winstead singled before
Will Trochiano lifted a sac fly to left to trim the deficit to 4-1.
Monmouth starter
Drew Helmstetter nearly escaped the fifth but an error kept things going and the Pride took advantage, scoring three times with two outs to make it 7-1. Denlinger singled home a run in the fifth to make it 7-2, but Hofstra added on in the sixth, seventh and ninth to lead 19-2, the eventual final.

-Denlinger posted his seventh three-hit game of the season.

th multi-hit game this year.

Tommy Kent delivered his fourth scoreless outing of the year.
NUMBERS CRUNCH
-Monmouth was outhit 21-7.
-There were five total errors in the game, with Hofstra making three.
-Hofstra starter Tristan Nemjo earned the win, allowing one earned run in five innings.
