WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Drew Helmstetter delivered six strong innings on the mound, and
Phil Stahl and
Ben Winstead drove in two runs apiece but a late Northeastern University rally propelled the Huskies over Monmouth University Baseball Sunday, 6-4.
Â
MU jumped to a 1-0 lead when Stahl's seeing-eye single to center plated a run. Northeastern scored single runs in the second and fourth to go in front, but Winstead gave Monmouth the lead back in the home fourth when he drove a two-run double the other way to make it 3-2. The Hawks tacked on a run in the seventh to lead 4-2, but the Huskies plated three in the eighth and another in the ninth to escape with a 6-4 win.
