David Horvath was effective through three, allowing just an unearned run. Rutgers struck for three in the fourth and two more in the sixth to widen the lead, before a Chris Brito double scored two more in the seventh to make it 8-0. MU sparked some offense in the eighth, with
Andrew Schmid singling home a run to cut it to 8-1, the eventual final score.
