PRINCETON, NJ – Sophomore
Evan Niedrowski of the Monmouth University track and field program set the school record for javelin with a throw of 74.20m on Friday, which was the highlight of a double meet weekend for the Hawks.
Niedrowski won the event at the Larry Ellis Invitational with the record-setting mark. His previous best throw was 71.42m at the Virginia Challenge on April 22, 2022. The mark is currently the ninth-best throw in the entire country and ranks first in the Colonial Athletic Association this season.

Ashley Navarro also made headlines at the meet hosted by Princeton University. Navarro ran the second-fastest women's 800m in Monmouth history Friday evening with a time of 2:04.98. Her time ranks first in the CAA and 23
rd in the nation.
McKenzie Delahanty ran the women's 5000m in 17:02.13, a new personal record that helps her maintain the second spot on the Top Tens list for the event.
Isabella Leak recorded the eighth-fastest time in school history at 17:32.96. On the men's side
Declan McDonnell improved his 1500m time by one one-hundredth of a second.
The Larry Ellis Invitational was canceled due to thunderstorms on Saturday after getting through roughly half of the scheduled events for the day.
A handful of Hawks also competed at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. this weekend.
David Strong placed third in his decathlon grouping with a final total of 6154 points. Strong won three events – (100m, 110mH, 400m) – and finished inside of the top five in eight.
Thomas Gibbard placed seventh in the same decathlon group with 5563 points, placing in the top five in five events and winning one (high jump, 1.90m).
Annie Rutledge led the Hawks in the heptathlon with 4228 points and a third-place finish in her group. Rutledge won two events – the 200m and 800m – while
Hailey Guerrieri took first place in the 100m hurdles. Guerrieri took 13
th place in the group with 3537 points, and
Abby Boggs finished in eighth with 3760.
